Conni’s Avant Garde Restaurant is an actor-driven company. Through the characters we inhabit, we create the world of a fictional restaurant run by a fictional theatre ensemble, devoted to the set of teachings embodied by the Legendary Miss Conni Convergence. Our audiences are complicit in creating this world, by playing their assigned roles as dinner guests. At Conni’s, we exploit the theatricality of serving a meal to its fullest potential. Company members originate, cook and serve our meals using fresh, local, seasonal ingredients (offstage in advance and onstage in character). By sharing locally grown food and ensemble-generated theater with our audiences, we awaken the spirit of conviviality and creative expression in the room and create theater that is meant to be a vibrant, essential social medium.
